Snowbuddy Rope Trick
The Rope Trick is an accessory, which allows Snowbuddy to be used as a come-a-long type of winch. Sometimes the only way to get a snowmobile out of trouble is dragging it out.
Components
The Rope Trick has three sections of rope, one large stainless steel pin, one carabiner, one pulley, and one No-Knot cleat.
The sections of rope are 6, 11, and 25 feet long. The 6 foot section is used, along with the stainless steel pin, to secure the top of the Snowbuddy to a deadman, ie, a tree, a rock, another snowmobile. The 11 foot section, along with the carabiner, is used as a harness to hook into the suspension of the stuck snowmobile. The 25 foot section is used between the stuck sled, hooked into the carabiner, and the Snowbuddy.
The No-Knot Cleat is a custom designed cleat that allows you to hook the 25 foot section of rope to the Snowbuddy. The Rope Trick is designed to be used with out tying any knots. The No-Knot cleat also allows you to take up slack and reset the winch quickly. Fumbling with knots in a frozen rope is unnecessary with the Rope Trick.
The pulley is used when you need maximum pulling power. The pulley is used as a snatch block to double your leverage. The videotape "Snowbuddy 101" has detailed instructions on the use of the Rope trick. The techniques in the video are meant to show some of the ways the Rope Trick can be used. When the user understands how the components of the Rope Trick work the variety ways to combine the components to get a sled out is limited only by the user's imagination.
